Discovering the Impact of Music Therapy with Raven: A Journey with TBI Survivors

Music has the incredible power to heal, transform, and bring joy to those who engage with it. At The Center for Creative Healing, we are privileged to have dedicated professionals like Raven who harness this power to make a profound difference in the lives of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors. Join us as we delve into Raven’s experiences, her specialized training, and the remarkable stories of recovery and joy brought about through music therapy.

Tell us one thing you have enjoyed so far about utilizing the grant funds to work with TBI survivors?

I’ve enjoyed being able to provide music experiences that are beneficial to people of all different walks of life with grant funds. While also having the opportunity to gain more knowledge about how to use my modality to benefit this community.

What training do you have to work with people with neurotrauma?

I am a board-certified music therapist who has experience working with individuals who have neurotrauma in different settings. I have also been trained in Neurologic Music Therapy, which has given me increasing knowledge on how music as a whole can increase and retrain neural pathways in the brain.

How and where do you provide services?

I provide group and individual music therapy services. These can be offered at the facility in which the client receives additional services or resides, or in-office at Creative Healing.

Tell us one story about how music therapy services helped?

During a grant-funded session, I began to work on speech goals with a client through Therapeutic Singing. During this experience, the client was able to enjoy singing some of their favorite songs, which brought back memories from their younger years before their accident. The client’s quality of life and mental health has improved from engaging in music therapy services.

Raven’s work with TBI survivors highlights the profound impact music therapy can have on individuals’ lives. By fostering connections, evoking memories, and enhancing mental health, music therapy serves as a beacon of hope and recovery for many. We are excited to continue supporting Raven and other dedicated therapists at The Center for Creative Healing as they bring the joy and benefits of creative therapies to those who need it most.
