Funding and Insurance FAQ
Do you take insurance?
Yes, some of our services are billable to insurance, depending on the type of therapy and the credentials of the therapist providing the service. Here’s how it works at The Center for Creative Healing:
- Services Provided by LPC Residents in Counseling:
Residents in counseling, working under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor (LPC), provide mental health counseling and psychotherapy. These services are billable to insurance in most cases. Some of our music, art and play therapists will fall under this category. - Services Provided by LPCs and LCSWs:
Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) also provide mental health counseling and psychotherapy, which are billable to insurance under psychotherapy. Many of our licensed providers are also music, art and play therapists giving them the ability to weave creative solutions into psychotherapy services. - Creative Therapies:
- Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Counseling Services: These services are billable to insurance under psychotherapy when provided by a qualified LPC, LCSW, or Resident in Counseling.
- Music Therapy: These services are not currently billable to insurance in Virginia. Self-pay options are available as well as funding through government agencies such as the Department of Education, Department of Social Services, and Child Services Act.
- Group Sessions: We provide a variety of creative therapy services to include music therapy and art therapy groups in the community. Contact us so we can learn more about your needs and to share pricing information.

What do your services cost?
Our services vary in cost based on the type of therapy, session length, frequency, and whether the service takes place. For many clients, insurance provides the most affordable option for funding therapy. You may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan but please call your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits and any applicable deductible amount.
